Put a caller in the waiting area (also called "on hold") so a colleague can pick up the call.
What you'll need
A Professional or Expert plan
The MyRinkel app on your phone
Push notifications switched on
Transferring to colleagues? Then they'll need the same set-up at their end.
Quick check: the waiting area isn't the same as the queue. With the waiting area you put a live call on hold so a colleague can take over. The queue (Expert only) controls what callers hear when nobody picks up: hold music, with or without a queue message.
How do you place a caller on hold?
In the Rinkel-app:
Open the Rinkel-app.
Go to the Calling page.
Tap Place on hold.
Don't see this button? Wait a few seconds or close the app completely and open it again.Choose the user who should take over the call.
Add a note if you like. Handy for passing extra context to your colleague.
Your colleague sees the caller appear straight away in their own MyRinkel app, along with your note. That way they know who's calling and what it's about before they pick up.
In MyRinkel, Webphone:
You are logged in to MyRinkel and the Webphone is enabled.
During an active call, click the On hold button.
The caller will now be placed on hold.
To take the caller off hold, click On hold again to resume the conversation.
No push notification?
That can happen when your mobile internet is unstable. No worries—you can still put the call on hold from the app itself.
Open the Rinkel-app
Tap Place on hold at the bottom
Select the call in progress
Choose: Answer, Transfer or Hang up
Your colleague gets a notification automatically and sees the call again under On hold in their own app. Nobody picks up? Then you can take the call back yourself.
What does a waiting caller hear?
You set that in MyRinkel (web) via Profile icon → Profile → Webphone (switch it on first) → Hold music on → Choose a tune to play.
You can't upload your own music, but you can pick from the available options
