Calling from your computer or laptop is really convenient: bigger screen, easier multitasking and everything in one place. The Webphone works in Google Chrome on desktop only — not on tablet or mobile.

Getting started with the Webphone

  • Log in to MyRinkel

  • Enable the Webphone in the bottom right

  • Allow access to your microphone, sound and notifications when the pop-up appears.

Important: the Webphone is only active while the tab is open. Close the tab and you'll stop receiving calls.

Making calls with the Webphone

  • Click the circle in the bottom right of your screen to open the call panel.

  • Dial the number or click on a contact in your list.

  • Choose the outgoing number you want to call from (that's what the recipient will see).

  • Click the green handset and your call is connected.

Answering calls

Incoming calls appear as a notification in the bottom right of your screen, as long as the Webphone is enabled. Click the green call button to answer.

Changing your ringtone

  • Click on your profile photo or initials.

  • Go to Profile.

  • Go to Webphone.

  • Select Incoming.

  • Under Webphone ringtone, choose your preferred ringtone and click the play button to preview it.

  • Click Save.

Also ringing on your mobile

  • Click on your profile photo or initials.

  • Go to Call preferences.

  • Go to Preferences.

  • Turn on Mute other devices when the Webphone is active.

  • Click Save. You will now receive incoming calls on both the Webphone and your mobile.

Call waiting: multiple calls at once

With the Webphone you can have up to 15 active calls at the same time. If a second call comes in while you are already on a call, you have two options:

  • Don't answer: the second caller follows your default no-answer settings.

  • Answer: your first caller is automatically placed in the waiting room.

When you retrieve the first caller from the waiting room, the second is automatically parked. This way you always have one active call.

Turning off call waiting or the call waiting notification

  • Click on your profile photo or initials.

  • Go to Profile.

  • Go to Webphone.

  • Select Incoming.

  • Untick Call waiting if you do not want to receive them at all.

  • Untick Call waiting notification if you do not want to hear a beep during a call.

  • Click Save.

Transferring a call to a colleague

In a call and want to transfer to a colleague? You can do it blind or after checking in first.

  • Transfer (with announcement): your caller is placed on hold while you call your colleague. Colleague picks up? Click transfer to connect the call. Not available? Click cancel, retrieve the caller from hold via park, and finish the call yourself.

  • Blind transfer: type or paste the number and the call transfers immediately, without speaking to your colleague first. Useful for internal customer service or when your colleague is already expecting the call.

Frequently asked questions

Does the Webphone work on an iPad or mobile?

No, the Webphone only works in Chrome on a desktop or laptop. When you are out and about, use the Rinkel app on your mobile.

The transfer screen has frozen.

Refresh the tab and log back into MyRinkel. Still not working? Close Chrome completely and reopen the Webphone.

Can I transfer a call to a colleague's Webphone instead of their mobile?

At the moment, calls are transferred to the colleague's mobile number, even if the Webphone is enabled. We are working on making it possible to transfer calls directly to the Webphone in the future.
