It's down to call forwarding. You can only answer calls from your browser if your account is included in the call forwarding. This article explains how it works.

Why does my account need to be in the call forwarding?

There are two different ways to be included in call forwarding in Rinkel:

  • with your mobile number

  • with a Rinkel user account

If only a mobile number is active in the call forwarding, the Webphone won't ring. In that case, we only forward calls to your mobile number.

The Webphone is linked to your account, not just to your mobile number. When you're logged in to MyRinkel, we know which logged-in user to forward calls to.

The Webphone is linked to your account. To receive calls via the browser, the mobile number linked to your account needs to be in the call forwarding. After that, you can open the Webphone in MyRinkel and use it fully.

How do I add an account to the call forwarding?

First, check whether your mobile number is in the call forwarding:

  1. Go to MyRinkel > Number settings.

  2. Go to Call forwarding.

  3. Can you see your mobile number without a first and last name?

If so, your account isn't linked yet and you won't be able to use the Webphone. Here's how to fix it:

  1. Click on your profile icon and select Profile.

  2. Go to Call preferences.

  3. Update the mobile number and click Save.

  4. Check the change by going back to Number settings > Call forwarding.

Is there now a name in the call forwarding?

  1. Log in to the Webphone to start receiving incoming calls via your web browser too.
