Getting both private and business calls on one phone? With caller ID display, you choose what shows on screen when the phone rings, so you know straight away whether to answer as your business or as yourself.
Important: this setting is about what YOU see❗
Caller ID display doesn't change anything about what people see when you call them — they always see your fixed Rinkel number. The setting only controls what appears on your screen when a call comes in.
Your three options
Your fixed Rinkel number (default): you see your own business number on screen. If it comes in through Rinkel, you know it's a business call.
The caller's phone number: you see the number of whoever's calling, just like on a normal mobile call.
The caller's phone number with an announcement when you answer: you see the caller's number, and before the call you hear a short announcement that it's a Rinkel call. Only you hear it, not the caller.
Setting up caller ID display
It works the same on your computer and in the app:
Open your Number settings and pick the right number from the dropdown.
Go to General and find Caller ID display.
Choose your option and click Save.
Note: the setting applies to everyone working with this number. Working with more than one user? Have a quick chat to agree on it first.
Recording your own pre-announcement
By default, you'll hear "This is a Rinkel call". Prefer your business name or something more personal? Record your own pre-announcement.
In MyRinkel, go to General settings.
Click Audio files.
Click New recording and record it with your microphone (or upload an audio file).
Give the recording a recognisable name, for example "Rinkel announcement".
Go back to Number settings > General > Caller ID display, choose The caller's phone number with an announcement and select your recording.
Keep it short❗
2-3 seconds max, for example "Business." or "[business name] call." The longer the announcement, the longer you have to wait before you're actually talking to your caller — and the bigger the chance they've already hung up before you can say a word.
Frequently asked questions
Does the caller hear my pre-announcement too?
No, only you. The caller just hears the normal ringing tone until you answer.
Does my setting apply to my colleagues too?
Yes. Caller ID display is a number setting, so everyone who has calls forwarded to that number sees the same option.
For missed calls I see my own number — how do I fix that? Switch to The caller's phone number. Then your missed calls show the number of the person you were trying to reach, not your own Rinkel number. And you can always find the caller's number in your Rinkel call history, of course.
Can I set a different display for each user? No, the setting sits on the number, not per user.
