When you can't take a call, you're already on the phone, or you're closed, we send the caller to your voicemail. As soon as a message is recorded, you get an email with an MP3 of the message — so you can listen to it on the go too.
Setting up voicemail in MyRinkel
For unanswered calls
Log in to MyRinkel and go to Number settings.
Pick the right number you want to set up voicemail for from the dropdown.
Click Forwarding.
Under Unanswered, choose Send caller to voicemail.
Under Notify your caller choose the recording you want to play.
Click Save.
Outside Business hours
In MyRinkel, go to Number settings.
Pick the right number you want to set up voicemail for from the dropdown.
Click Business hours.
Click on Closed under Settings when closed.
Choose the option: Send caller to voicemail.
Under Notify your caller choose the recording you want to play.
Click Save.
Setting up voicemail in the Rinkel app
In the Rinkel app, you set up voicemail under Unanswered just as easily.
Open the Rinkel app and tap Settings (the cog), top right.
Pick the right number, if you have more than one.
Tap Forwarding.
Click down below on Unanswered calls
Choose the option: Send caller to voicemail.
Select a recording
Tap Save on the Unanswered calls page and Save again on the Forwarding page.
Email notifications for voicemail
Switching email notifications on or off
In MyRinkel, click your profile icon, top right.
Go to Profile.
Go to Notifications.
Under New voicemails, tick Email and/or App if you want to get a notification.
Heads up: is Email switched off in your notification preferences? Then no user gets a notification, not even if an extra email address is set up per number.
A different email address per number
Got more than one phone number and want a different email address per number for voicemail notifications? You can.
In MyRinkel, go to Number settings.
Pick the right number from the dropdown.
Click General.
Under Voicemail notification by email, enter the email address you want.
Click Save.
From now on, you'll get voicemail notifications for this number at the email address you've set and at your own account email.
Linking voicemail to a call menu key
Want callers to be able to choose a key to go straight to voicemail?
In MyRinkel, go to Number settings > Call menu.
Choose the key you want to link voicemail to.
Click down below on Unanswered calls
Choose the option: Send caller to voicemail and select a recording.
Click Save.
Frequently asked questions
Callers reach a different voicemail than mine — how come?
Chances are they're hearing your mobile provider's voicemail, not Rinkel's. That happens when your mobile is switched off, on Do Not Disturb or aeroplane mode, or when the forwarding is on your mobile number and you don't pick up that call: then your mobile provider's voicemail steps in first. Fix it by setting up the Rinkel voicemail under Unanswered (see above) and setting your ring time to under 23 seconds, shorter than your provider's — or by switching off your provider's voicemail altogether.
Can I send missed-call notifications to a different email address per number too? Not at the moment. Missed-call notifications always go to the account users or administrator. Per-number settings only work for voicemail notifications, not for missed calls.
Where do I listen back to my voicemails? The MP3 is attached to every email notification, so you just need to open your inbox. Prefer MyRinkel? Go to History, where all your voicemails are lined up.
