Listening back to important calls, letting a new colleague listen in to learn, or going over an appointment again — with call recording, you can do it all. Below you'll read how to set it up and what you need to know legally.
Good to know❗
Call recording is in the Expert plan. You set it up per number, handy if you want to record some numbers and not others. Both users and administrators can listen back to and download the recordings.
Switching on call recording
You manage it in one place for all your devices. Switch it on in MyRinkel? Then it works in the Rinkel app too.
Via MyRinkel
In MyRinkel, go to Number settings > General.
Switch on Call recording (the bar turns blue).
Tick "Yes, I agree to these terms" and click Save changes.
Choose whether you want to play an announcement before recording starts, and click Save changes once more. Done!
Note❗
Without agreeing to the Legal terms, call recording won't be activated.
Via the Rinkel app
Open the app and click the Settings button (the cog).
Choose the number.
Go to Call recording.
Switch on the toggle, accept the notice, and optionally set a message for your caller.
Click Save.
Listening to, downloading or deleting recordings
To listen back, in MyRinkel:
Go to History and click the play button under Quick actions.
Or in the Rinkel app:
Go to History, click a call, go to Call recording and click the play button.
To download or delete, do it in MyRinkel on your desktop:
Go to History, click the three dots under Quick actions, and choose Download call recording or Delete call from history.
Note: Deleted recordings are gone and we can't get them back.
Can you just record calls?
As a business, you have to let your caller know, before the call, that you're recording. And you have to take part in the call yourself — otherwise it's called interception, and that's not allowed.
Switch on call recording in MyRinkel? Then you agree that you'll make sure yourself that you meet privacy law and the GDPR. Sounds heavy, but in practice it comes down to this: say up front that you're recording, and take part in the call yourself.
Frequently asked questions
How long are recordings kept?
90 days, after which they're deleted automatically. Want to keep them longer? Download them in time.
Can I extend the retention period?
No, 90 days is fixed. Downloading is the only way to keep recordings longer.
Can I have recordings start automatically?
es. As soon as you switch on call recording per number, both incoming and outgoing calls on that number are recorded automatically.
Do I get a transcript of my calls?
Full transcripts can't be read in MyRinkel yet. With the separate AI Insights add-on, you can get automatic summaries of your calls.
What happens to my recordings if I downgrade from Expert?
You lose access to your recordings. Download whatever you want to keep before you switch.
Who can listen to and download recordings?
Both users and administrators of the number.
