How does outbound calling with Rinkel work?
Rinkel uses a call-back connection: you enter the number you want to ring, Rinkel calls you first on your mobile, and as soon as you answer you're connected. The other person sees your Rinkel landline number on screen.
Heads up: when you set up the app, you enter your mobile number once. That's the number Rinkel calls you back on for the first step.
Making a call from your mobile
Open the MyRinkel app and tap the keypad icon at the bottom.
Enter the number you want to ring, or pick a contact from Contacts.
Tap the green call button.
Answer the incoming call from your own Rinkel number—Rinkel now dials the number you're calling.
Handy tips
Redial the last number: tap the green call button without entering a number.
Calling abroad: add the country code. For Belgium that's 0032, for Germany 0049.
Switching between several Rinkel numbers: open the MyRinkel app and go to the Calling page. At the bottom of the screen you'll see the option to pick a different outgoing number.
Managing contacts: tap Contacts and choose your Rinkel or phone contact list.
Frequently asked questions
Why does Rinkel call me back first? That's the two-step call. Rinkel sets up a connection between your mobile and the number you're ringing, so you call from your Rinkel landline number. It works anywhere you've got mobile signal—no wifi needed.
Can a colleague make outbound calls with the same Rinkel number too? Yes. Add your colleague as a user via General settings > Users in MyRinkel. With their own login details, they can make outbound calls from their mobile using your landline number.
I can't make outbound calls—what now? First, check that your mobile number is entered correctly in the app. Just reactivated your account? Then log in to the app again. Still not working? Check that you've got mobile signal—the first step of the two-step call runs over the regular mobile network.
Which countries can I call? From your Rinkel number you can call and forward calls to landline and mobile numbers in the countries below. Service numbers are excluded. If a country isn't on the list, we don't currently offer it in our call plan. In that case you can use your mobile network.
